Our goal
Å·±¦ÌåÓý Agricultural Campus’s Community Education program aims to contribute to the development of sustainable and healthy communities by promoting a broad understanding of agriculture and research to educators, students, community groups and the general public.

Community Education Student Assistant position
The Community Education Student Assistant will work with the Community Education Manager, to provide support in planning, organization and executing community education events on campus. In addition to developing and delivering educational programming to a series of target audiences.Â
Responsibilities
- Provide support and input to the Community Education Manager
- Assist in the development, organization and planning of community education events (Campus tours, class field trips, summer camps, class visits, Community Day, etc.)
- Develop and deliver hands-on agriculture and science related age-appropriate learning activities for youth
- Work with academic departments on campus to identify potential activities and collaborators for programming and events
- Work with the Indigenous Student Advisor to develop and deliver educational, science-based programming for youth of Nova Scotian First Nations communities
- Catalog virtual resources for future planning and events
Qualifications
- Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
- Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- Is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations
- Must be a current post-secondary student
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must be reliable, organized, and able to multitask
- Must have demonstrated strength in planning and implementing programs
- Must have proven problem solving and adaptability
- Should be comfortable speaking in a large group
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision and direction would be considered an asset
- Leadership experience and/or experience with event planning, and promotion are assets
Time Frame: 8 weeks June – July 2025
Hours:Â 35 hours/week including some weekends and evenings
Pay Scale: In accordance with Faculty of Agriculture’s Student Pay Scale 2025 ($16.81 - $19.72/hour)
